We are thrilled about the overwhelming response to our Backyard Explorers kits! Although previously sold out, we are providing this second offering to be mailed by June 19th, leaving plenty of time for summer exploration!

Backyard Explorers is part of our FREE #AtHomeInNature initiative, featuring four weeks of videos and other online resources. Each week will focus on a different nature theme, targeted to children grades K – 5 and their families. Beginning June 15th and continuing to July 10th, this online guided backyard exploration series, complete with activities and additional supplemental resources and links will be presented free through social media. Discover Bugs, Birds, Mammals, and Plants with a new team of Summit Metro Parks’ talented and knowledgeable Naturalist staff each week! Enjoy wandering, wondering and fun in your own backyard! Select any or all of the weekly themes, which will remain available on Summit Metro Parks’ website throughout the summer. 

For families who want to dig-in deeper, a “Backyard Explorer” backpack is available for purchase with key naturalist tools: A magnifying glass; insect collection jar; field guide; not to mention a bird bingo game and other hands-on activities. Cost is $20. All sales are final.
