Explore the sweet side of history and experience 19th century maple production at Hale Farm & Village! 


Maple Sugar Festival at Hale Farm & Village provides a unique opportunity for guests to witness how local and national history shaped maple production through three generations of one local family. Explore the science, history, and cultural importance of maple sugar and syrup through interactive activities, ongoing demonstrations, and pop-up talks across our historic grounds and buildings. 


Highlights of the event will include tree tapping in our Maple Sugar Bush, ongoing evaporator demonstrations in our Hale Family Sugar House, Native American storytelling of maple traditions, seasonal cooking demonstrations, and sweet tastes along the way–including our annual pancake breakfast. 


Event Highlights

  • Pancake Breakfast ($) served in Gatehouse Visitor Center, 9-3pm
  • Historic Maple Sugaring Demonstrations, including: Sugar Camp, Tree Tapping, and Syrup Evaporator

  • The Hale Family & The Sweet Side of History–ongoing timed tours of the Hale House and maple production history
  • Hearth and stove cooking demonstrations, featuring maple and molasses
  • Sheep to Blanket Demonstrations and hands-on fiber exploration tables 
  • Live artisan demonstrations of glassblowing, pottery, and blacksmithing

  • Hale Farm & Village Admission–Includes admission to grounds and all Maple Sugar Festival activities; does not include breakfast (individual breakfast tickets will be available for purchase), glass workshop experience, or any specially priced activities: Adult $15, Youth $8, WRHS Members FREE

  • Hale Farm Admission + Pancake Breakfast–Includes admission to grounds and all Maple Sugar Festival activities plus a pancake breakfast (one serving per ticket), does not include the glass workshop experience): Adult $25, Youth $16
